Cardinals Sweep SUNYAC Cross Country Weekly Awards
Stefanie Braun of the women’s cross country team and Ryan Millar of the Cardinal men’s cross country team were named the State University of New York Athletic Conference Runners of the Week, announced Monday.
Braun earns her second SUNYAC Female Runner of the Week award as she was the top individual female runner at the Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational over the weekend.She crossed the finish line in 21:45 to lead Plattsburgh to a second-place team finish with 56 points. Braun has led the Cardinals in all five races this season, posting two individual wins. Her time over the weekend set a new course record and improved her season best by 30 seconds.
Millar receives his first SUNYAC weekly honor after being the top runner from the conference at the Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational. He finished tenth out of a field of 211 runners, completing the 8k course in 26:14. Plattsburgh claimed fourth place as a team with 109 points. Millar’s performance over the weekend was his season best by 14 seconds and marked the third time this season in which he led the Cardinals.
Plattsburgh begins its postseason on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the SUNYAC Championship on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.
