Cardinals Climb in National Rankings, Make Debut in Second Poll
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (April 6, 2010) - The Plattsburgh State baseball team has made its program debut in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association-endorsed D3Baseball.com poll at No. 23, receiving 98 points after two weeks of "others receiving votes" in the media and coaches Top 25 poll. The Cardinals this week were also the biggest movers in the American Baseball Coaches' Association poll, jumping eight spots to No. 18--the highest they have ever appeared in the national rankings. (The ABCA coaches conduct a Top 30 rating.)

Defending NCAA champion Saint Thomas (Minn.) remains atop both polls. Cortland State
(No. 15 ABCA/No. 21 D3Baseball.com) is the only other State University of New York
Athletic Conference team, besides Plattsburgh, to be recognized in either national
rankings.
The Cardinals will put their new national rankings to the test--trying to keep their
school-record 17-game winning streak in tact, as well--later today when they travel
to Canton for a non-conference game at Saint Lawrence University. After a doubleheader
at Clarkson on Wednesday, Plattsburgh will have its home opener on Saturday against
SUNYAC opponent New Paltz.
