Cardinals among NCAA Leaders in Total Attendance


INDIANAPOLIS - The SUNY Plattsburgh men's soccer team led the State University of New York Athletic Conference and ranked in the Top 10 percent nationally in total home attendance during the 2009 season, according to figures released recently by the NCAA Statistics Service.

The Cardinals drew 3,018 fans to 11 dates at the Field House Complex for an average of 274. That total led the SUNYAC and was 27th out of 406 NCAA Division III men's soccer programs.

Plattsburgh had a season-high 500 fans for its NCAA Tournament first round game against Bowdoin on Nov. 12.

National champion Messiah led the way both in total (14,669) and average (1,048) followed by York-Pa. (9,724; 748).
