Cardinal Runners Staying Busy During the Summer Months


Members of the Plattsburgh State Men’s Cross Country team have stayed busy in the off-season, preparing for the upcoming year in a number of events throughout the region recently.

Dylan Hedderman (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) and Ethan Waite (West Chazy, N.Y./Beekmantown) competed in the Whiteface Mountain Uphill Foot Race earlier this month. The race distance is 7.97 miles with a vertical climb of 3,596 feet. Hedderman won the gold medal in the under 20 division with a time of 1:16:27. Waite took the silver medal in the same division with a time of 1:17:04.

Mike Schram (Tupper Lake, N.Y./Tupper Lake) competed in the Lake Place Half Marathon on June 12. Schram finished fourth overall out of a field of 1,410 runners, crossing the finish line in 1:17:58.
 
At the end of May, the relay team of Bobby Grim, James Biondi, Josh Mitchell, Ryan Millar and Chris Martin won the open relay at the 23rd KeyBank Vermont City Marathon. The team of Cardinals finished with a time of 2:22:03.

The Cardinal cross country teams will kick-off their 2011 season on September 3, 2011 at the Cardinal Classic Cross Country Invitational.
