Cardinal Hockey Announces Season Ticket Availability

Plattsburgh State Athletics officials announce Tuesday that 2008-09 season tickets for Cardinal men's ice hockey will go on sale on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Field House Box Office.  Admittance times are 9 to 10 a.m. for current reserved-seat ticket holders, 10 to 11 a.m. for persons who want seat naming rights with priority seating and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the general public.

The Grand Opening for newly-renovated Stafford Ice Arena will be Saturday, Oct. 25 versus Elmira men at 7 p.m.

"The Plattsburgh community is excited about the new Stafford Arena, which will be more comfortable, easier to move around the rink and be safer for our fans," said Plattsburgh State director of athletics Bruce Delventhal.  "Stafford Arena is now one of the premier Division III hockey facilities in the country."

The two-time defending national champion Cardinal women's hockey team will have its opening night on Friday, Oct. 24, when they entertain first-year program Potsdam at 7 p.m. The team will raise the banner commemorating the 2008 NCAA Division III championship win, completing a 25-3-1 season that also included a fifth straight Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division title and NCAA-record 35-game unbeaten streak.  There's no admission charge for Plattsburgh women's hockey home games during the regular season.

Very limited seating is available in the updated Stafford Ice Arena, where work crews are putting the finishing touches on a construction project that includes theatre-style chairback seating, tempered pro-style glass and dasher boards, moving the penalty box opposite team benches and expanding the press box with high-speed Internet jacks and additional phone lines.

Men's hockey ticket prices are $4 for a regular-season game, $7 for Oswego game (Dec. 5), $10 for Opening Day Ceremonies (Oct. 25 vs. Elmira), $12 per day for the Cardinal Classic (Jan. 2-3), $110 for reserved season seat and rail position and $400 for VIP (includes two reserved seats, hospitality room and media guide).  In addition, fans will have the option of identifying their favorite seat with a name plate attached for a one-time donation of $250.

The Cardinals are defending State University of New York Athletic Conference champions and 2008 NCAA Division III runners-up, finishing second in the national rankings with a 25-5 record.
