Cantus to Perform in Concert; Host Workshop
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The Music Department of the State University of New York College
at Plattsburgh, in association with Hill and Hollow Music, will host the professional
male vocal chamber ensemble Cantus in concert on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. in E. Glenn
Giltz Auditorium of Hawkins Hall.
Cantus is dedicated to exalting the human spirit through the performance of innovative and engaging musical programs. Thomas McNichols, a 2002 SUNY Plattsburgh alumnus, sings bass in the ensemble. Cantus will charm and delight the audience with songs and odes to love. The first half of the program will feature works by Henry Purcell, Randall Thompson and Bedrich Smetana. The second half will explore the diverse repertoire for which Cantus is well known. This includes spiritual arrangements from around the world.
Tickets are $5 for Plattsburgh State students, $12 for faculty, staff, seniors and
students and $15 for general admission. Tickets are available in advance through the

The Music Department will also host a workshop featuring Cantus on Saturday, Nov.
6 at 3 p.m. in the E Glenn Giltz Auditorium in Hawkins Hall.
Cantus members will share ideas with the Cardinal Singers, Minor Adjustments and the SUNY Plattsburgh Men's Ensemble. This is in preparation for the department's Choral Fest Concert on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
Admission for the workshop is free for Plattsburgh State students and $2 for the general public. Tickets will be available in advance at the Angell College Center desk or at the door.
