Brighton Tabbed Player of the Week in Summer League
DUBUQUE, IOWA (July 5, 2010) -- Casey Brighton, a sophomore-to-be on SUNY Plattsburgh's baseball team, was recently named the River Valley League's player of the week.
The catcher from Hyde Park, Vt. (Lamoille Union High School) batted .500 with a double and seven runs batted in from June 21-27. He also scored five runs, had a .533 on-base percentage and slugged .571.
A week later, Brighton received player of the game consideration in the RVL All-Star Game, in which his North team defeated the South, 11-6. He went 1-for-2 with a double and sacrifice fly to help the North overcome a 6-0 deficit after five innings.
Cardinal and summer league teammate Greg Larnerd of Sandy Hook, Conn. / Newtown also was an All-Star.
The RVL includes college players from NCAA Division I-II and junior college scholarship programs, as well as Division III.
