Brighton Named Player of the Week for Second Time
DUBUQUE, IOWA (July 20, 2010) -- For the second time in three weeks, Casey Brighton
(Hyde Park, Vt./Lamoille Union High School) has been named the River Valley League
Player of the Week. The catcher is a sophomore-to-be on SUNY Plattsburgh's baseball
team.
Brighton batted .480, going 12 for 25, with a home run and 10 runs batted in from July 5-11. He posted a .680 slugging percentage. He also was the player of the week after hitting .500 during Week 2.
Earlier this month, Brighton received player of the game consideration in the RVL All-Star Game, in which his North team defeated the South, 11-6. He went 1-for-2 with a double and sacrifice fly to help the North overcome a 6-0 deficit after five innings.
The RVL includes college players from NCAA Division I-II and junior college scholarship programs, as well as Division III.
