Ben Depo Named SUNYAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Ben Depo of the Plattsburgh State men’s track and field team has been named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, for the week ending March 27.
The sophomore from Saranac, N.Y. was the top Division III athlete in the decathlon at West Point’s Dick Shea Invitational, finishing fifth and tallying 5,779 points among a field of Division I athletes.
After day one of competition, Depo sat in seventh place overall before moving up on
the second day. He set a decathlon point personal-best by nearly 400 points. Depo
finished in the top five in half of the events, including a second place finish in
the 1500 meter (4:50.02), third in javelin (49.15m) and fourth in the discus (33.94m).
