Annual Holocaust Days of Remembrance Looks to 'Clarify the Record'

SUNY Plattsburgh’s annual commemoration of the Holocaust, Days of Remembrance, will be Thursday, April 12 at 5 p.m. in the Douglas and Evelyne Skopp Holocaust Memorial Gallery, Feinberg Library.

The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Clarifying the Record.” SUNY Distinguished Librarian Emerita Cerise Oberman, Associate Professor of History Richard Schaefer and Jewish Studies Program Director Jonathan Slater will speak, focusing on correcting an almost 30-year error on display in the gallery.

The winners of the 2017-2018 Douglas R. Skopp Creative Competition on the Theme of the Holocaust, philosophy major Nicolas Kiroy and psychology major Jessica Suphan, will be reading from their own works.

Rabbi David Kominsky of Temple Beth Israel of Plattsburgh will lead the closing reflection. A special Days of Remembrance exhibit, organized by associate librarian Elin O’ Hara-Gonya, will be displayed on the second floor of the Feinberg Library.

Days of Remembrance is made possible by alumni gifts to the Plattsburgh College Foundation, support from the School of Arts and Sciences and technical assistance from Library and Information Technology Services.
