Alzheimer's Disease Caregiver Conference 2016 Set for Nov. 15


The Center for Neurobehavioral Health at SUNY Plattsburgh presents “Programs, Perspectives and Peacefulness for Caregivers of People with Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia” Tuesday, Nov. 15 beginning at 8 a.m. in the Warren Ballrooms, Angell College Center.

The one-day conference includes a presentation by Jim Comer on “The Joys and Jolts of Caregiving,” recounting his 14-year journey taking care of his elderly parents. In addition, Erica Salamida, associate director of programs and services, community outreach, education and early stage initiatives for the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York, will discuss behaviors and communication strategies. 

Other topics discussed include accepting respite as a tool for addressing isolation and depression, and tools for caregivers to strengthen resilience, among others.
