Activities Planned, Facilities Open at SUNY Plattsburgh During Winter Break
Students may be gone for winter break, but SUNY Plattsburgh remains open and is offering several activities in the coming weeks for campus and community.
The Memorial Hall swimming pool will be open for recreational and lap swimming Monday through Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. through Jan. 19 with the exception of Jan. 16. The pool is free for all students, faculty and staff, including their families. No fitness center membership is necessary.
The Plattsburgh State Art Museum and art galleries office in Myers Fine Arts Building will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the galleries will be open seven days a week from noon to 4 p.m. except on legal holidays. The Rockwell Kent Gallery in Feinberg has been closed while construction is underway on the elevated walkway. Portions of the Kent collection have been moved to the Slatkin Study Room on the second floor of Myers Fine Arts Building until construction is completed.
The Fitness Center is open for those with membership Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is closed Sundays and legal holidays.
The Angell College Center is open Monday through Friday during break from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The college center desk, where you can purchase event and discount ferry tickets, will be staffed during those hours.
And the public is invited to open skating in the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena at the SUNY Plattsburgh Field House Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 7 and 8, Sunday, Jan. 29, and Sunday, Feb. 19, from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Cost is $3 for the public and $2 for SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty and staff with ID. Skate rentals are available at the same rates.
