STAR-NY Online Tutoring Service
This program provides free online tutoring for enrolled SUNY Plattsburgh students in several subject areas.
Online tutoring through STAR-NY is free. Twenty-five SUNY colleges participate in online tutoring as part of a shared services consortium. Each participating SUNY — including SUNY Plattsburgh — identifies trained and qualified tutors to provide online tutoring. Depending on the night, your tutor may be from SUNY Plattsburgh or may be from SUNY Morrisville, SUNY Cortland, etc.

- To access tutoring, click the Request a Tutor button on the STAR-NY website, fill out the tutor request form, and click Submit.
- You’ll then enter the site, and you can select which subject “room” to enter. You’re on your way live, one-on-one tutoring!
- Tutors can offer you audio-visual tools similar to Zoom or Google Meets to assist in your learning. You can also keep it to the chat box if you’d prefer.
- Fill out an evaluation of your tutor on your way out when you’re done!
Schedule
Summer tutoring through STAR-NY will run from May 12, 2024 to August 29, 2024. During the summer session, ONLY math and writing are offered.
Sunday through Thursday 7 p.m. to midnight (login until 11:30 p.m.):
- Writing: Any course through master’s level (except foreign language)
- Math: Pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus, calc I, and intro to statistics
