'Rocky Horror' Returns to the Giltz Stage Oct. 28

The College Theatre Association presents the cult classic stage production, “The Rocky Horror Show,” Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 to 11 p.m. in the E. Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall, with doors opening at 8:30 p.m.

“The Rocky Horror Show” was first presented in London in 1973 as a stage musical, starring Tim Curry as the original Dr. Frank N. Furter. The show moved to Broadway in 1975 and was adapted later that year as the film, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show, starring Curry, Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon.

Audience participation has become has become part of the lore of the production, said Katie Breslin, who will be seen performing the role of “Columbia.”

Jacob Anderson, director of the student production, has worked on the show at SUNY Plattsburgh for three consecutive years and has been a part of the cast for the past two years, choreographing the dances, overseeing costumes and working with actors on their staging and singing.

“Students and faculty who have seen the show should expect all the pageantry and traditions they've grown to know and love with a few updated twists to keep things fresh for the new production,” Anderson said. “Newcomers should expect a sexual roller coaster full of twists and turns, love and lust, and a dash of cold blooded murder.”
