The Fitness Center is open for the spring session. LImited group exercise classes have also resumed in person. check the fitness center schedules page for more information.
All COVID-19 related protocols and guidelines as outlined by the New York State Department of Health, Clinton County Health Department and SUNY Plattsburgh Safety Committee remain in effect for the spring session. This includes limiting capacity, social distancing, wearing a mask while exercising and sanitizing equipment after use.
Additionally, all participants will be required to pool test weekly and complete their
daily health screening form upon entrance.
Sign up at the front desk or call ext. 3143 for orientation, personal training, fitness assessment and equipment reservation.
Spring 2021 General Announcements
Fitness Center Hours of Operation
- Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. (closed from 2 – 3 p.m. for cleaning)
- Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
Remote Exercise Classes
Remotely, group exercise classes are being offered by our group exercise director
via our Instagram site (@plattsfitness).
We will release scheduled activities as we continue to address programming need and ability to provide services.
The Hood Hall Fitness Center is no longer operational. The contents of the group activity room in Memorial Hall have been transferred to the former dining space in Algonquin Hall. Spinning and cardio kickboxing will now be offered at this location. The climbing wall operation is suspended for the time being.

Rec Fee Structure
SUNY approved a new mandatory Rec (recreation) Fee for eligible students to start Fall 2019. The fee is $85 per semester ($170 academic year) and will appear on the SUNY Plattsburgh tuition bill. Faculty/staff and alumni rates remain unchanged.
Requests for an exemption from this fee must meet certain criteria.
