Fitness Center News & Events


 New Location

The Fitness Center has relocated to its newly renovated temporary space during phase II of building construction. Still located in Memorial Hall on the first floor, find us in rooms 108 (cardio) and 110 (resistance).

Sign up at the front desk or call ext. 3143 for orientation, personal training, fitness assessment and equipment reservation.

Finals week schedule & summer Planning

  • Week of May 16 – May 20 — Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Summer schedule — Due to construction and other factors impacting Memorial Hall, there will not be summer hours of operaton. 

Group Exercise Classes

We will release scheduled activities as we continue to address programming need and ability to provide services. Classes will be instructed in person. IMLeagues pre-registration will continue to be required.

Facility Updates

The Hood Hall fitness center is no longer operational. The contents of the group activity room in Memorial Hall have been transferred to the former dining space in Algonquin Hall. Spinning and cardio kickboxing will now be offered at this location. We are not planning on opening the climbing wall for the spring session due to planned spring construction.

Rec Fee Structure

SUNY approved a new mandatory Rec (recreation) Fee for eligible students to start Fall 2019. The fee is $85 per semester ($170 academic year) and will appear on the SUNY Plattsburgh tuition bill. Faculty/staff and alumni rates remain unchanged.

Requests for an exemption from this fee must meet certain criteria.

Register Online

Faculty and staff may register for membership online. See “Sign up for Membership” for details. Faculty and staff can register for membership through MyPlattsburgh.
