Updated College Policy on Indoor masking

Due to the increased prevalence of the new variants and recommendations in the most recent CDC guidance, the campus continues to require face coverings indoors. This will require everyone on campus to wear a mask while indoors regardless of vaccination status.

Therefore, masks will be required to be worn in the fitness center by participants during this time. Masks must be worn properly, covering your nose and mouth especially while exercising. Members who do not adhere to masking requirements will have their privileges discontinued.

Group Exercise Classes

We will release scheduled activities as we continue to address programming need and ability to provide services. Classes will be instructed in person. IMLeagues pre-registration will continue to be required.

Facility Updates

The Hood Hall fitness center is no longer operational. The contents of the group activity room in Memorial Hall have been transferred to the former dining space in Algonquin Hall. Spinning and cardio kickboxing will now be offered at this location. We are planning on reopening the Climbing Wall for the fall session on a limited basis. More information on hours of operation to come.

Rec Fee Structure

SUNY approved a new mandatory Rec (recreation) Fee for eligible students to start Fall 2019. The fee is $85 per semester ($170 academic year) and will appear on the SUNY Plattsburgh tuition bill. Faculty/staff and alumni rates remain unchanged.

Requests for an exemption from this fee must meet certain criteria.

Faculty and staff may register for membership online. See “Sign up for Membership” for details. Faculty and staff can register for membership through MyPlattsburgh.
