Meet a few of our graduates!
Michelle Mora, Class of 2010
Ms. Mora came to campus with a plan: “I wanted to become an event planner for social, political, and pluralistic events. I hoped to create awareness on different issues in America through activism and promote conversations on diversity. There were so many popular social events that happen in this country that can be utilized to engage Americans in a productive conversation about equality.”
Active on campus, Ms. Mora served as Student Association V.P. for Organizations, was an R.A. for 2 years, was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, served as VP for Programming in Order of Omega Honor Society, was Program Coordinator for Organization Development, was Chair of the Multicultural Alliance, was a Deans List Student, was a member of the Sigma Delta Tau Sorority, and was a teaching assistant for Lunch and Dinner Class.
Ms. Mora also received several awards: ODK’s Sophomore Leader of the Year Award for 2008, New Member Showcase Winner for Best New Member Program, Dean’s List, “Make a Difference” Award from the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, Recipient of Sigma Delta Tau Foundation Scholarship, and Recipient of Gold and Silver Plate Society Foundation Scholarship.

“I tried several majors at SUNY Plattsburgh before I found the hospitality managment program. None of them made me feel as comfortable at the Hospitality Department. I found it very easy to interact with students and faculty, and really enjoyed our new facilities in Sibley.”
Chris Kasper, Class of 2005
Mr. Kasper is from Sterling Colorado and during his time at Plattsburgh, spent three summers as a resident golf pro at the Lake Placid Resort in Lake Placid, NY, and three winters as freestyle skiing coach for NYSEF (New York Ski Education Foundation) at Whiteface Mountain. Using this experience to benefit the hospitality management program, Chris organized visits to the Lake Placid Resort for several semesters. Following graduation Chris will began his career as the assistant food and beverage manager for Sunday River Ski Resort in Bethel, Maine.
“The department gave me the tools to set a goal and set standards for myself that I can use throughout my career within the hospitality industry. The professors gave me the out of class assistance and support I needed to keep on track. I hope to continue to be involved in the growth and development of the hospitality management program. My time in the Hospitality Management Department was wonderful.”
Rebecca Schroeppel, Class of 2005
Miss Schroeppel is from Hollowville, New York, and has experience with all aspects of the restaurant industry, with restaurant management as her primary goal.
