Dr. Ron Davis
Professor of Journalism
I joined SUNY Plattsburgh and founded the journalism program as a result of both the college’s student newspaper flourishing and the success of its television and radio stations. A former English chair and journalism chair for more than 30 years, I have offered more than 30 workshops for newspaper professionals. In addition to being an academician, I am a marathon canoe champion and was recruited to pitch for the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians. I enjoy kayaking, hiking and playing tennis, as well as barbecuing for my students.
I have written a book on American dramatist Augustus Thomas as well as articles for scholarly and professional journals, newspapers and magazines. Along with co-authors Nora Davis and Thomas Montanaro, I am currently finishing four books in our Density Diet Series: Discover the Davis Density Diet,Grooming Grammar Gurus, Word Wise and Strategically Stringing Sentences: The Art of Writing and Public Speaking. The series — an innovative color-coded, neurolinguistic study of the English language and its grammar — is a revolutionary approach to writing and speaking clearly and concisely.
