Suggest a Purchase

Our Suggest a Purchase service lets SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty, and staff recommend additions to our library collections. Suggestions may be for books, DVDs or journal subscriptions. We can act quickly on suggestions for books, videos or music; suggestions for digital resources (databases and journal subscriptions) require a longer process.

Use our convenient form to submit your suggestion for a purchase. If you would like to be notified about action on your recommendation, please be sure to include your email address.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan option lets you obtain books and simultaneously build the Feinberg collection

When searching for books in our online catalog, you will encounter the usual options to order them via InterLibrary Loan when they are not available in the local Feinberg collection. Now you can now request that Feinberg Library purchase the book you need, rather than simply borrowing it from another library. Convenient menu buttons appear in the catalog search engine, allowing you to select this option if you wish to do so.

Collection Development Guidelines

How Materials are Selected for the Library Collection

The Library maintains guidelines for collection development, which govern our selection of most library material. Separate guidelines govern the selection of materials for Special Collections.

Feinberg Library selects and collects materials in all formats to support the curriculum and programs of the college and to provide materials to enhance the general education of our students. Feinberg Library purchases materials in accordance with the plan for coordinated collection development amongst SUNY four-year colleges and in support of programs to diversify SUNY library collections. Material available at other SUNY libraries will be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan and, generally, will not be purchased for Feinberg’s collection. Feinberg Library encourages the participation of faculty, students and staff in building the library’s collections through recommendation of materials in all formats. Participation via the “Suggest A Purchase” form on this page is recommended. Feinberg Library encourages the donation of materials and has final responsibility for the disposition of donated materials.
