- Excellence in Classified Serviced — Nancy Hoyland
Nancy Hoyland
No matter what the job requires, from being the point person in the office to volunteering at the testing site team, Nancy cheerfully takes it on. Nancy's earned the name “Chaos Coordinator” for her ability to foresee problems but then coming up with solutions to them. Nancy’s care and dedication is evident in everything she does.
- Excellence in Unclassified Serviced — Catherine Kaleita
Catherine Kaleita
Catherine has helped countless members of our community to make our campus safe and healthy, always with compassion and comfort. Catherine’s contributions on committees across our campus are welcome and valued. She focuses on the best solution for the person and the campus. Not only is she a familiar face at the testing site, she’s been helping with testing for our colleagues who work second and third shift.
- Excellence Service Team Award — Student Financial Services
Student Financial Services
Like many departments, this newly merged team had to transition to provide support services for our students while working remotely. And they faced the additional challenges of disbursing over $5M dollars in emergency federal aid to nearly all of our students. They worked tirelessly to understand the complex rules attached to the federal stimulus dollars, which was manually processed, as well as notifying students and answering any questions they may have had about refunds for remote learning — and as you can imagine, our students had many questions. The support they helped provide to our students cannot be overstated and it is a remarkable accomplishment that earned recognition from our campus community, as well as from other SUNYs and systems administration.
Congratulations Nicole Anctil, Benjamin Boyea, Corey Davidson, Jesse Decosse, Annette Demarais, Marisa Hoogkamp, Amy Jacques, Kerry Lubold, Todd Moravec, Anne Nichols, David Soder, and Angela Sprague

She has the very difficult job that requires them to deliver difficult answers, and that was before our spending restrictions were in place. She’s open to seeing another person’s point of view and finding common ground. She always looks for solutions and is adept at finding ethical ways to overcome obstacles. We enjoy working with her and appreciate that she makes our jobs easier.
- Excellence Service Team Award — Janitorial Services
Janitorial Services
They are the front line for our campus’ health and safety. We’ve asked so much of you, and you’ve given each time. Your dedication to faculty, staff, and students has been tireless. You tackled the ever evolving needs presented by the pandemic, collaborated to come up with solutions, and were patient in your response to the many, many, many requests — and sometimes complaints — from community members. Your colleagues call you heroes, armed with disinfectant and blue tape, and we couldn’t agree more.

- How is this different from the Cardinals Care or the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence?
This award is distinct and different than either Cardinals Care or the Chancellor’s Award. Cardinals Care is open to anyone across campus and is designed to recognize those who make a positive difference or go the extra mile to encourage greater civility — it is not necessarily focused on recognizing excellence or alignment with our strategic values.
The Chancellor’s Award is an annual award that is open to the entire campus and typically only selects one individual. While effectiveness and contributions are part of that consideration, it is not focused on our specific values and is far more formalized.
In short, the service awards are a way for us to recognize excellence in our division.
- Who do I contact if I have questions?
Please contact Anika Fullum, associate director of management services, and chair of the Morale and Team Building Committee at 518-564-2538 for any questions you may have.
