1.0 Purpose

The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh (“College”) is committed to protecting the campus community and providing them with information and resources to help keep them safe. To assist in that endeavor and in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the College will prepare and distribute annually, the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.

This report informs the community about crime on campus, programs to prevent and respond to crime and emergencies, and campus security policies. It provides crime statistics for the previous three calendar years about reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by SUNY Plattsburgh; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The report provides information about University Police, reporting and responding to emergencies/crimes, sexual assault, campus escort service, residence hall security, residence life, personal responsibility, drug/alcohol policies, and how to access registered sex offender information at SUNY Plattsburgh, information about fire safety policies and procedures and statistics for fires occurring in on-campus residential facilities.

By October 1st of each year, the College shall publish its Annual Security and Fire Safety Report so that it is accessible to prospective and current students and employees as well as the general public. See Appendix for the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.

University Police shall send a notice to the campus community each year upon the publishing the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.

A hardcopy of SUNY Plattsburgh’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is available upon request by contacting the University Police Department at (518) 564-2022 or [email protected].
