SUNY Plattsburgh reserves the right to manage use of college airspace and to establish the qualifications for operating small unmanned aerial systems within it or at other locations when used by affiliated persons for Institutional or Academic Purposes. Persons may operate a sUAS only after obtaining prior written consent to do so from the Plattsburgh Unmanned Flight Operation Review Board (PUFORB) and furnishing to the college proof of possession of a current Remote Pilot Certificate as defined under Part 107 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations issued by the Federal Aviation Administration. All sUAS operations must comply at all times with any and all FAA requirements, this policy, and any other applicable campus procedures or requirements as mandated by PUFORB. This policy also addresses the hobbyist use of drones of any kind, or operation of drones of any kind whose operations do not comply with the directives of the policy. These activities are prohibited and may subject operators to legal actions or judicial charges.

Individuals using sUAS to photograph or digitally record individuals must follow the guidelines in the Photo, Video, Audio Release Process (See Forms).

Reasonable precautions as established by PUFORB shall be taken to protect the integrity of privacy reasonably assumed to exist for individuals.
