  Redcay Hall is a 41,000 square foot red brick building that permanently houses offices and classrooms for the Anthropology, Sociology, Criminal Justice and Gender and Women Studies faculty.

  The majority of space on the second floor has been designated for businesses in the START-UP NY program. There is 7921 sq. ft. of usable space on the second floor. The building is ADA-compliant and equipped with an elevator.

  A shared parking lot is available behind the building. A separate fiber optic cable was recently installed to the building, and START-UP NY businesses would need to acquire service (internet, telephone, etc.) through an local external internet service provider.

  The Northstar Technology Center in nearby Chazy, N.Y., is located only six miles from the Canadian Border in Upstate New York. It is ten minutes north of Plattsburgh and only one hour south of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

  The former pharmaceutical research and development facility is a perfect location for businesses looking for an ultra modern R&D/manufacturing complex. The Northstar Technology Center includes:

  • Four (4) electrical substations with a total capacity of 2,500 KVA
    State-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility with a total capacity of 120,000 gallons/day.
  • Vivarium and 29 research labs, including more than 17,000 sq. ft. of wet lab space.
  • 39,074 sq. ft. of modern office space including private offices, bull-pen areas, conference rooms, IT/support rooms.
  • Full service cafeteria.
  • Several state-of-the-art large meeting rooms/auditoriums.

  SUNY Plattsburgh and Northstar Private Capital have a collaborative relationship to foster entrepreneurship at the technology center and enhance future learning and job opportunities for students and residents of the North Country. A major portion of the complex has been designated for businesses interested in locating in a START-UP NY Tax Free Zone including 298,539 sq. ft. of covered space in five (5) buildings and 35.7 acres of adjacent land for construction of new buildings.

• SUNY Plattsburgh’s START-UP NY Campus Plan

  SUNY Plattsburgh has developed its START-UP NY “Campus Plan” (see below for the Campus Plan sections) to enable the college to advance its academic, research and service mission by leveraging START-UP NY tax-free incentives to establish public-private partnerships, ultimately leading to enhanced job creation and entrepreneurship at UAlbany and across the in the North Country.

  The plan addresses the following key elements of the START-UP NY initiative that are explicitly cited in the enabling legislation and/or required by the control agencies regulating the initiative including:

  • Identification of the campus contact person, office and address to administer the START-UP NY initiative
  • Identification of designated space and/or land for the START-UP NY initiative
  • A description of the type of business or businesses that the College will pursue, as well as a description of how the College will select businesses under START-UP NY
  • Alignment of the START-UP NY initiative with SUNY Plattsburgh's mission
  • How START-UP NY businesses will generate positive community and economic benefits

  As a major economic development partner in the North Country, SUNY Plattsburgh is poised to capitalize on the START-UP NY program.
