SUNY Plattsburgh places a high value on the safety of our community. While we strive to create an environment where accidents do not happen, we recognize that we must be prepared when they do.
Reporting accidents is an important element of our environmental health and safety program as it informs us of risks that may need to be addressed. For employees, appropriately reporting accidents is necessary to ensure that they can receive all benefits.
This page details information about accident prevention and reporting.
Reporting of Work-Related Injuries and Illness
In order to ensure that you receive all of the benefits that you are entitled to, you must make sure to report all work-related injuries or illnesses to your supervisor or other designated official in your agency. If you do not know who this individual is please contact your personnel office to identify the appropriate individual for reporting injuries. Possession of this necessary information will enable you to make an initial report of your injury or illness and provide you with a point of contact for issues through your injury or illness. You are also encouraged to use the Accident Reporting System (ARS) by calling (888) 800-0029. Calling ARS assists in ensuring that your benefits are available to you as soon as possible and helps with tracking injuries and illnesses.
