Plans are being developed for each student in internships, clinicals, and placements.

Students should reach out to their department chairs/instructor for specific information. For our licensure and certification programs, we are working to submit documentation to NYSED and SUNY to approve our plans.

In SBE there will be a confirmed plan for each intern to allow for completion of course requirements. Students are being informed by instructors and internship supervisors. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Director of the Office of Internships and Career Opportunities John Shearer at [email protected].

School of Arts & Sciences

Students in Arts and Sciences may be involved in laboratory, internship, and studio courses for which they would ordinarily need direct access to physical facilities. These are being handled as follows:

  1. Regular Laboratory Sections Attached to Science Courses
Faculty are making arrangements for labs to be conducted remotely, with students viewing procedures and participating in data analysis and other activities over the internet. Laboratory sections will not be held on campus.
  2. Independent Studies and Research Assistantships with Laboratory Components
Students should contact their supervising faculty members to make arrangements for completing the courses. If the student is in residence in Plattsburgh, it may be possible to conduct laboratory work individually in the labs. If a student is not in residence, or if arrangements cannot be made for work in the laboratory, alternative activities for completing the courses will be developed by the faculty members. If a student cannot reach the faculty member, the department chair will assist in setting up the arrangements. Contact information for the department offices and the department chairs can be found on the department website: School of Arts and Sciences.
  3. Internships
Plans for student internships are being worked out by departments. Students with questions about their internship placements should contact their supervising faculty members or their department chairs.
  4. Studio Courses in Art and Music
Faculty are making arrangements for studio courses to be taught remotely. In most cases, students will be doing artistic or musical work from their homes and receiving assistance and critique from faculty and other students online. Studio course sections will not be held on campus. Arrangements for courses vary greatly with the nature of the medium or instrument, and so students should be in touch with their instructors directly for guidance. Contact information for the department offices and the department chairs can be found on the department website: School of Arts and Sciences.
  5. Studio Projects in Art
Students in advanced studio art projects should contact their supervising faculty members to make arrangements for completing the courses. If a student is in residence in Plattsburgh, it may be possible to complete studio projects in the studio spaces. If a student is not in residence, or if it is not possible to make the specific studio space needed available, alternate activities for completing the projects will be developed by the faculty members. If a student cannot reach the faculty member, the department chair will assist in setting up the arrangements. Contact information for the department offices and the department chairs can be found on the department website: School of Arts and Sciences.
