WIDGET 3 Workarounds
After switching to the new system, we have found a few things that didn't come up during beta testing. They will be fixed over the next few weeks. Until then, here are the recommended workarounds.
- No Priv Reference
- Save & Exit/Save & Continue Doesn't Work
- Live edits to content not showing up on the live Web site, but look fine in WIDGET
- Content objects disappearing from the file list after editing in the Live tab
- Content Objects Can't be Deleted (for those who have access to this feature)
- Pages Can't be Deleted (for those who have access to this feature)
- Navigation Objects Not Updating
- Content Objects Have Disappeared
- Can't Upload PDFs
Save & Exit/Save & Continue Doesn't Work
If you use Save & Exit or Save & Continue and get a blank screen, your work was not saved. This happens if the content object's edit window was open and idle for too long. It may also happen for large or complex content. You will have to start over. Using Save & Continue every so often will prevent this problem.
No Priv Reference Error
If WIDGET has been open and idle for a while, you will get this error when you try to work with your site. Just click on your folder in the folder tree and start over.
Live edits to content not showing up on the live Web site, but look fine in WIDGET
This bug has been fixed. In rare cases, you may still encounter this problem. If you do, follow these steps:
- Open the page (not the content object - if you hover your pointer over the icon to the left of the file name the tooltip should read "Page Object")
- Click Deactivate Page > Yes
- Click Activate Page > Yes
Content objects disappearing from the file list after editing in the Live tab
They aren't gone, they've moved to the Development tab. This happens sometimes and only if you edit a content object directly from the file list in the live tab. Follow the process above to avoid this problem. If this has happend already, this is how you can fix it:
- Open the page the object belongs in
- Delete the old content object
- Add the new content (it will appear in the list even though it is no longer visible in your Live tab)
- Click Deactivate Page > Yes
- Click Activate Page > Yes
Content Objects Can't be Deleted (for those who have access to this feature)
Content objects are protected from deleting if they are used on any active pages. Either remove the objects from their pages or deactivate the page altogether (if you no longer need it). Now you will be able to delete it.
Pages Can't be Deleted (for those who have access to this feature)
In the Live tab, you need to deactivate the page before you can delete it.
Navigation Objects Not Updating
Most of the time, when you edit a navigation it should show up immediately. If it doesn't you'll have to:
- Open the page
- Click Freshen
- Deactivate Page > Yes
- Activate Page > Yes
- Repeat for all live pages using the navigation
Content Objects Have Disappeared
If you had a lot of content objects that weren't on a live page before WIDGET 3 was in place, they are not in your live tab anymore. They aren't lost though. Click on the Development tab and they should all be there. They will stay in the development area until you add them to a live page.
Can't Upload PDFs
You tried to upload your PDF and got the message "Connector not enabled." This is a random error. Click on your folder in the folder tree in left WIDGET pane. Open your object and try again.
