Introduction to WIDGET
SUNY Plattsburgh's Web Content Management Tool
WIDGET is the authoring environment and content management tool for SUNY Plattsburgh's official web pages. WIDGET stores page content separately from layout elements, making it possible for the college's web site to be flexible - open to mandates for accessible web content and adaptable to design modifications. All official departmental pages that are to be hosted on the official SUNY Plattsburgh web site at www.plattsburgh.edu are created through WIDGET.
For SUNY Plattsburgh, WIDGET provides the advantage of permitting the rapid deployment of new web site designs, meeting the needs for accessibility, marketing, and presentation of the college.
For the content creator, the greatest advantage of WIDGET is that content itself can become the main focus: there is no need to lose time worrying about troublesome formatting or layout issues, as these aspects are handled through the program itself.
