Educational Technology (Ed Tech) Fee

The Ed Tech fee is a mandatory charge on your student bill. It supplements state funding and allows SUNY Plattsburgh to provide you with the best possible technology support, services, and education. The Ed Tech fee exists to give Plattsburgh students the competitive edge.

Your Ed Tech fee also establishes a consistent revenue stream that enables the College to conduct long-range planning for technology. It allows the College to respond to short-term needs and to adjust for changing curricular needs and student priorities.

Who decides how my Ed Tech fee is spent?

The Dean of Library and Information Services seeks input from the Educational Technology Advisory Committee, which is composed of students, staff and faculty. An accounting of expenditures is made available annually.

How much is the fee?*

The charge for full-time undergraduate and graduate students is $130.75 per semester. The charge for part-time undergraduate and graduate students is $11 per credit per semester. You can defer the fee against financial aid.
*Subject to change.

Can I request a fee waiver?

As a rule, no. The fee is required for all students. The Dean of Library and Information Services will consider extraordinary exemption requests.

If I am not enrolled but I am using campuses resources to make up an Incomplete grade, do I need to pay the Ed-Tech fee?

Yes. You must pay the fee prorated on the number of credits for your Incomplete course. If you are enrolled in other courses while you are making up the Incomplete course, then you are already paying the fee based on your enrollment status. For answers to your specific questions, please call the LIS Dean's Office.
