EDS507 - Prosocial Skills, Positive Behavior Support and Functional Assessment (3 cr.)

Study of techniques to change challenging classroom behaviors both in the academic and social areas. Assessment and analysis of a functional behavior assessment (FBA) and the development of a behavior improvement plan (BIP). The identification of antecedent and consequent events. Understand why challenging behavior may occur and long-term strategies to reduce and teach positive alternatives. Provide contextual supports necessary for successful outcomes. Proactive and reactive strategies appropriate for all grade levels. Strengthening the foundation of Developmentally Appropriate Practice. Examine behavior modification plans in schools and other settings to best serve students birth-grade 12 range. (Fall/Spring).
