The EOP Admission Process
To apply for EOP admission to SUNY Plattsburgh, candidates should complete the following admission process:
Step 1: Submit SUNY Application Form
Fill out a SUNY application and check the box in question 54 to indicate you are applying for EOP admission.
NOTE: You do not need to include the $40 application fee if you have checked this box. Your high-school or transfer-college counselor can help you complete the application form.
Mail the application to the Application Processing Center (APC) in Albany along with your official high school transcript and (if applicable) original GED test score report (freshman applicants and transfer applicants with less than 30 credits). If you are applying as a transfer student, have your transfer college(s) forward an official transcript of your grades directly to the Plattsburgh admissions office.
NOTE: Freshman applicants currently in high school should submit their applications to their guidance counselors, who will sign and forward the application, high-school transcript, and test scores (see below).
Step 2: Complete and Submit EOP Early Information Form
After filing your SUNY application, you will receive an EOP Early Information Form in the mail asking you to submit:
- Supplemental financial information
- Autobiographical essay
- Letter of recommendation
Follow the instructions on this and other forms carefully and thoroughly, being sure to submit all requested information as quickly as possible.
When your application arrives on the Plattsburgh campus, it will be reviewed for EOP academic eligibility. If you qualify academically, you will receive an EOP Applicant Checklist that will request the following:
- SAT or ACT scores (freshman applicants and transfer applicants with less than 30 credits)
- Financial eligibility documentation
- Transfer eligibility verification (transfer applicants only)
- Proof of your INS status (if you are not a U.S.citizen)
Step 3: Submit Application for Federal Student Aid
Complete and file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form listing SUNY Plattsburgh (code 002849) as a recipient. You will then receive a state TAP grant application in the mail. Complete this application and mail it to the TAP processing center in Albany. (Keep copies of these forms for your records.)
Complete and file the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, providing information for the previous year (for example, 2004 information for those applying for admission in 2005). Send copies of both your FAFSA and TAP application to the Plattsburgh admissions office.
Step 4: Provide Documentation of Income
You will need to provide documentation of both taxable and non-taxable income for yourself (all applicants) and your parents/household (dependent applicants).
Send signed copies of your and your parents' federal and state tax returns (documenting wages, salaries, investment income, dividends, interest, business income, etc.) as well as annual - not monthly - statements of non-taxable income (social services, Social Security, disability income, etc.) to the Plattsburgh admissions office. (Keep copies of this documentation for your records.)
