Accepting Financial Aid

Your financial aid award letter advises you of the types and amounts of financial aid we anticipate you to qualify for should you attend Plattsburgh. Awards in an offered status are those you need to either accept or decline. It's a good idea to consider all of your college financing options, review the costs of college and talk with your parent(s) before finalizing your award offers.

When you are ready to either accept or decline your offered awards:

1. Login to Banner Web
2. Follow the instructions for your username and PIN. If this is your first log on, please read the instructions for "First time log on"
3. Click "Financial Services Menu", "Accept Award Offer" and then the "Financial Aid Year" in the drop down menu. Follow the instructions on this web page to accept or decline your financial aid awards.

4. Students borrowing for the first time with a federal direct subsidized loan or federal direct unsubsidized loan must also:

   1. complete and sign your electronic Master Promissory Note
   2. complete an online entrance counseling session at www.dlssonline.com
5. Any parent electing to use a Parent Loan (PLUS) must complete the PLUS Loan Request Form. No further action is required for parents who decide not to use the PLUS Loan.
6. If you have any outside educational funds that are not listed on your award letter, mail a copy of the donor's letter to the Financial Aid Office.
7. Check your Plattsburgh e-mail periodically for important messages from our office. Submit any information requested in a timely manner in order to avoid unnecessary delays and cancellations. If you are a new student with no Plattsburgh e-mail account, our office will mail you a postcard instead.
8. Process your bill once you receive it from the Student Accounts Office.  Bills are mailed to students approximately eight weeks before the semester begins, and can be processed by paper or online.
