Fire Evacuation Drills

New York State Fire Code Table 405 and Education Law, Article 17, Part 807

Campus Residential Units: 4 drills per year

• One Drill must be conducted between September 1st and December 1st
• One must utilize fire escapes when present
• One during the hours of darkness
• All occupants are required to participate

Academic, Administrative, Support, and Public Assembly Buildings: 3 drills per year

• One Drill must be conducted between September 1st and December 1st
• One must utilize fire escapes when present
• In buildings where summer sessions are conducted, one of the required drills must be held during the first week of such summer session
• All occupants are required to participate

Assembly - Campus Theaters, Sports Facilities, Student Centers, Libraries: Quarterly

• One Drill must be conducted between September 1st and December 1st
• One must utilize fire escapes when present
• All occupants are required to participate
