Environment, Health, and Safety at SUNY Plattsburgh
The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh is committed to regulatory compliance and pollution prevention. The campus conducts its affairs in a manner that safeguards the environment, health, and safety of students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Our goals include:
- Reducing the use of toxic substances and the generation of wastes
- Promoting strategies to reuse and recycle those wastes that cannot be avoided
- The purchase of renewable, reusable, recyclable and recycled materials
Environmental Management System
The Environment, Health, and Safety Department is in the process of developing and implementing an Environmental Management System. A key element of this system is to provide the appropriate training to all employees and students to ensure competence and awareness of our environmental policies and procedures, the significant environmental impacts of their work or activities, their roles and responsibilities in support of our environmental management system, and the potential consequences of departure from specified procedures. As objectives and targets are identified and programs established to achieve them, environmental performance will be measured by monitoring key activities and tracking performance for continual improvement.
