Mentoring Dossier for 2007

Individually tailored portfolios are researched, assembled and electronically distributed twice yearly to participants the mentoring program. Each portfolio, totaling some 75 pages, contains a wealth of materials including:

  • personalized letter to each participant indicating specific contacts for their respective Consulate, regional Canadian Studies association, ACSUS, the International Council for Canadian Studies, the American Council for Quebec Studies and the International Association for Quebec Studies
  • Important notices for Canadian Studies in the United States - e.g., changes in personnel (i.e., Academic Relations Officers) and Consular regional territories in the U.S.
  • Professional development training opportunities in Canadian Studies
  • A comprehensive list of funding opportunities - with contact information and deadlines - available through such sources as the Canadian Government, the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program, ACSUS, and the Organization of American States
  • Professional scholarly meetings including conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops
  • Calls for papers for Canadian Studies conferences
  • Calls for papers for Canadian Studies publication venues
  • Print and web resources categorized by academic discipline

CONNECT believes that the quality, quantity, timeliness and accuracy of the information provided to the mentors is unmatched by any association or governmental agency dedicated to Canadian Studies in the U.S.
