B.S. Environmental Science
Miner Applied Environmental Science Program
Jeff received his B.S. in Environmental Science in 1998 after attending the Applied Environmental Science Program at Miner Center. Through the years Jeff has gained experience working as a field technician for various organizations such as Manomet Conservation Science Center, Tall Timbers Research Station, The Nature Conservancy, US Geological Survey-Biological Resource Discipline, National Park Service and PRBO Conservation Science. His vagabond lifestyle has allowed him to study plant and fire ecology in a variety of locations including Maine, New York, Florida, Nevada and California. Most recently, Jeff is attending Humboldt State University in Arcata, California to obtain a M.S. degree in Forestry and Watershed Management. His thesis topic is investigating the influence of time since treatment and prescribed fire on fuel loading and vegetation response in masticated fuel beds of Northern California and Southeastern Oregon.
Margaret started on her career path as an Intern at the Clinton County Planning Department. With the combination of her college degree and her internship, she was hired as an Assistant Planner in Schenectady County. After a few years in this jurisdiction, she was struck by wanderlust for the west coast. Margaret moved (without a job) to Seattle, WA. After working for a while outside of her career track, she accepted an offer to work for a beautiful small city called Port Orchard, WA. From there, following her partner's dream job, she moved to northern CA and she has had the opportunity to work for a couple of different cities in the San Francisco Bay area over the years, including Berkeley, from which she has a few stories to tell.
Currently, Margaret is a Senior Associate with PMC, a full service environmental consulting firm. She is in charge of overseeing the Agency (current planning) staff working jurisdictions throughout the bay area, while working as senior level planning staff, herself. She is also very excited to be transitioning into the field of climate change, focusing on Climate Action Plans based on the ICLEI model of Greenhouse Gas audits and Green Building Ordinances. For fun, she is also the Chair of her city's Planning Commission. Margaret lives in El Cerrito, CA with her partner and their two children.
