PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Sep. 19, 2012) — In an effort to offer students and local professionals an opportunity to network with and learn from communications professionals, SUNY Plattsburgh’s Department of Journalism and Public Relations will host Public Relations Society of America Day Thursday and Friday, Sep. 27-28.
PRSA is the nation's largest community of public relations and communications professionals. It strives to provide professional development in public relations, communications and related fields.
PRSA Day guest speakers will include Kerry Diamond, SUNY Plattsburgh alumna and divisional vice president of public relations at Coach Inc.; Tom Nardacci, CEO of Gramercy Communications; and Emmanuel Tchividjian, chief ethics officer at Ruder Finn Inc.
PRSA Day events will kick off Thursday with a presentation by Diamond, who has also served as vice president of communications for Lancome. She will discuss her career. This event, which will run from 7 to 8 p.m. in Room 202 of Yokum Lecture Hall, is open to students and the public.
The following morning, Professor Shawn Murphy, chair of the newly established Department of Journalism and Public Relations, will officially announce the establishment of the new department at 10:30 a.m. in the Alumni Conference Room, Angell College Center.
Following Murphy’s announcement, Diamond, Nardacci and Tchividjian will present. Then, they will each lead a separate Q-and-A session for students from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. in the Alumni Conference Room and from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in the Amnesty Room, Angell College Center.
