SUNY Plattsburgh Symphonic Band to Give Spring Concert

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (April 12, 2013) — The SUNY Plattsburgh Symphonic Band will present a spring concert Tuesday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. in E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.
The program, under the direction of associate professor of music, Daniel Gordon, will feature trumpet soloist Matthew Trinkle, a graduating senior majoring in music and computer music. He will perform the premiere of his own transcription of “Flowerdale” by British composer Philip Sparke. Trinkle will be joined by trumpet soloists Grayson Wheeler and William Long in performing Leroy Anderson’s “Buglers’ Holiday.”
The program also includes Walter Hartley’s “Hallelujah Fantasy,” Timothy Broege’s “Sinfonia XIX,” Jan van der Roost’s “Puszta,” Richard Wagner’s “Trauersinfonie,” and Sergei Prokofiev’s “Athletic Festival March.” The concert is free and open to the public.
