PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Dec. 6, 2012) — SUNY Plattsburgh’s Omicron Delta Kappa circle has been awarded a $500 Maurice A. Clay Leadership Development Initiative grant, one of only a dozen awarded this year to circles (or chapters) across the country.
According to Michael Cashman, assistant director of campus activities and Plattsburgh Circle adviser, the grant supports individual circles “seeking to establish specific programs to enhance leadership development on campus and in the community.”
The grant will help fund the local circle’s “Eggs Over Issues,” a breakfast series designed to encourage dialog among campus leaders, faculty and staff on a broad range of topics. Participants will represent scholarship; athletics; campus and community service;, social and religious activities; campus government; journalism; speech and the mass media; and creative and performing arts.
“Most importantly, the networking/interaction between campus leaders and faculty/staff will help build a strong relationship and understanding from both sides,” Cashman said.
Other circles awarded grant money included Auburn University, Ball State, University of Baltimore, Indiana State University and the University of Missouri, to name a few.
