Periodicals and Media Collection

Where is the Periodicals/Media Area Located?

The Periodicals/Media Area is located on the 3rd level of Feinberg Library. 

What will I find in the Periodicals/Media Area?

A variety of information sources are stored in a variety of formats in the Periodicals/Media area. These information sources consist of journals that are unbound and bound, newspapers, microfilm, microfiche, DVDs, videos, CDs, records, and cassettes. In addition, you can find Census Data and local newspapers dating back to the early 1800s.  Our facilities are well-equipped with viewing and listening devices for non-print media and copiers and readers for printed materials.

Can Periodicals be checked-out of the Library?

All periodicals are for in-library use only and do not circulate   Photocopiers and microform printers are provided for your convenience. The fee for copying is 15 cents per exposure.

What services are provided at the 3rd Level Service Desk?

Staff at the 3rd Level Service Desk are available to provide assistance in locating periodical and media materials, using photocopiers, and using microform machines.

Can I make copies of articles on microfilm or microfiche?

We have two self-service digital combination microfilm/microfiche reader/printers available adjacent to the Service Desk. The fee for copying is 15 cents per exposure. Staff are available to assist you with reader/printer equipment.

Where can I find the DVD, video, CD, record, and cassette collections?

These collections are located on the third level behind the Z section of the general book collection.

Can DVDs, videos, CDs, records, and cassettes be checked out?

All media materials can be checked out on your personal library account at the 2nd Level Service Desk. CDs, records, and cassettes circulate for 14 days with one renewal.  DVDs and/or videos can be borrowed for a period of 7 days with one renewal.
