Library Reserves Information for Faculty
Placing Course-Related Materials on Reserve
To place items from Feinberg Library's collection or your personal collection on reserve, please submit a completed Faculty Reserves Form at least two weeks before students will be requesting the item at the library.
Books, audiotapes, DVDs, and videorecordings will physically be placed on reserve and made available for in-library use at the 2nd level Circulation desk.
Journal articles, short excerpts from books, class notes, syllabi, etc. will be scanned and placed on electronic, password-protected reserve. This service is available through ERes. Submit the completed Faculty Reserves Request Form and all accompanying materials to the 2nd level Service Desk.
Materials placed on reserve from your personal collection should also accompany the request form and will be returned to you after they are taken off reserve.
Our staff will locate the items belonging to Feinberg Library providing that you supply the call number, journal citation, full-text online database citation, or other pertinent information.
ERes Passwords and Copyright
You will receive an e-mail with the password to access the electronic reserve materials for your course. It is the responsibility of faculty to inform students of the password.
We use passwords to comply with educational fair use guidelines. These guidelines allow faculty and libraries to distribute materials to students enrolled in a class without asking for copy and distribution permissions. The passwords ensure that copyrighted materials are not available on the open Web.
We comply with other copyright and fair use laws and guidelines as well. We cannot, for example, scan an entire book for electronic reserve, or digitize and provide entire media resources online. These materials must be physically be placed on reserve for student use.
Video Requests for Classroom Use
Submit a Media Hold Request Form to reserve a video from the Feinberg collection for presentation in your classroom at least one week before your scheduled presentation. Requested videos will be available for pick up by the requesting faculty member at the 2nd-level Service Desk. Completed forms should be delivered to the attention of Angela King.
