Student Employment Opportunities at Feinberg Library

Student Eligibility

Full-time, registered, matriculated, students are eligible for employment at Feinberg Library. Students are employed through the Federal Work Study Program and Plattsburgh State's Temporary Service Programs.

Applications for employment are available at the 2nd-level Service Desk, Feinberg Library. Refer to the staff directory to contact individual shift supervisors for more information.

Position Descriptions

Circulation (Work Weekday Hours)

Job Description: Committed to excellent customer service. Work with automated circulation system and online library catalog. Shelve and organize library materials, assist with reserve materials. 

Experience Required: keyboarding, computer literacy, good interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Must be willing to commit to working a full semester. Opportunities for advancement. Previous experience in a library, restaurant, or retail store desirable.  Contact Darlene Strack for information.

Periodicals/Media (Work Weekday Hours)

Job Description: Committed to excellent customer service. Work with online library catalog, process and shelve periodicals. Maintain and inventory periodical and media collections.

Experience Required: Keyboarding, computer literacy, good interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.  Contact Kathy Gregoire for information.

Circulation (Working Evening Hours During Spring and Fall Semesters)

Work is scheduled Sunday through Wednesday between 4:30 PM and 12 Midnight 

Job Description: Committed to excellent customer service. Work with automated circulation system and online library catalog.  Shelve and organize library materials. Assist with reserve materials. 

Experience Required: Keyboarding, computer literacy, good interpersonal skills, and attention to detail. Must be willing to commit to working a full semester. Opportunities for advancement. Previous experience in a library, restaurant, or retail store desirable. Circulation (Working Combination of Evenings and Weekends During Spring and Fall Semesters)

Work is scheduled between Thursday 4:30 PM to 12 midnight, Friday 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM, Sunday 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM.

Document Delivery (Work Weekday Hours)

Job Description: Committed to excellent customer service. Copy and print microform materials, operate photocopier, fax machine, and computer. 

Experience Required: Attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills. Technical skills desirable. Contact Ethel Facteau for information.

Interlibrary Loan Lending (Work Weekday Hours)

Job Description: Committed to excellent customer service. Prepare books and articles for mailing to other libraries. Operate photocopier, fax machine, and computers. 

Experience Required: Attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills.  Technical skills desirable. Contact Ethel Facteau for information.

Interlibrary Loan Borrowing (Work Weekday Hours)

Job Description: Committed to excellent customer service.  Work with automated Interlibrary Loan system and various databases.  Receive incoming materials that we have borrowed from other libraries.
