Who is eligible to take an LIB Proficiency Exam?

Anyone who has never received ANY grade for LIB102, or LIB105 is eligible to proficiency out of the LIB105 course by passing the LIB105 Proficiency Exam. To clarify, you are not eligible to take the Proficiency Exam if you already have a "W" or a grade for another library course on your transcript. A student may take the Proficiency Exam only once.

How to Prepare

You are prepared for the exam if you've done a lot of research in the Feinberg Library, using print and electronic sources, or if you've done significant research at comparable university libraries and are also familiar with Feinberg's specific resources and services. The exam also covers basic concepts and skills in academic computing and software commonly used by students at SUNY Plattsburgh.

You can also prepare by reading the text, Information Literacy & Technology, by Carla J. List. The text is on reserve at the Feinberg Library's second-floor Service Desk and the SUNY Adirondack Library.
