Who is eligible:

Anyone who has never received ANY grade for LIB101, LIB102, or LIB105 is eligible to proficiency out of the LIB105 course by passing the LIB105 Proficiency Exam. To clarify, you are not eligible to take the Proficiency Exam if you already have a W or a grade for another library course on your transcript.

Summer exams are open to all eligible Plattsburgh students, not limited to new students and transfers.

A student may take the LIB105 Proficiency Exam only once.

How to Prepare:

You are prepared for the exam if you've done a lot of research in the Feinberg Library, using print and electronic sources, or if you've done significant research at comparable university libraries and are also familiar with Feinberg's specific resources and services. The exam also covers basic concepts and skills in adademic computing and software commonly used by students at Plattsburgh State University.

You can also prepare by reading the library text Information Literacy & Technology, 3rd Edition by Carla J. List. The text is on reserve at the library's 2nd floor circulation desk.
