Feinberg Library Interlibrary Loan Services (ILL)

ILL lets you borrow beyond Feinberg

Feinberg Library's Interlibrary Loan Service lets SUNY Plattsburgh students, faculty (including emeriti), and staff borrow materials and copies of periodical articles that are not available at Feinberg Library (i.e., not owned, currently checked out, lost, missing, on order, etc.).

ILL services are not available to alumni and community guests or to those who owe library fines.

For faculty and college staff only - placing your local photocopy requests

Faculty and staff who need an article photocopied from our local print or microform holdings can take advantage of our document delivery service. Begin by completing an Illiad request (described below). Your article will be duplicated and sent to you.

Faculty requesting copies of ILL articles from microform materials should contact Ethel Facteau for assistance (e-mail facteaem@plattsburgh.edu or 518-564-5301).

Getting Started with your ILL Request

Before submitting an ILL request, check to make sure the item you want is not available at Feinberg. For all materials except journal articles, first check the Feinberg Library catalog, PlattCAT. For journal articles, check here: Is a Journal Available Online?

ILL Request Steps:

  1. Go to Feinberg's Interlibrary Loan log-on page to set up your ILLiad account.
  2. Once you have created your account, your requests can be completed online. Please make sure the information is accurate. Use your Plattsburgh information for your local address and use your home address for the second address. You will be notified of ILL services by email, so make sure your email address is accurate.
  3. Remember to update your account whenever you experience a change of address or email address. When searching Feinberg Library's databases, you can take advantage of the Request ILL link from within the database to place your order. The information is automatically entered in the correct fields.
  4. For Branch Campus students and faculty - Be sure to identify yourself as a Branch campus user on each request form.

Renewing Materials

Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library. ILL staff processes renewal requests every business day, and will contact you if the renewal request is denied.

One renewal may be possible prior to the due date. Renewals can be done directly by you through your ILLiad account prior to the due date of the item.

  • Log in to your ILLiad account.
  • Under "Review Requests," choose "View/Renew Checked Out Items"

Renewal Service Limits

  • It is your responsibility to remember the due date of each item and to return or renew all materials by the due date.
  • Your request must be submitted up to the due date to not incur overdue fines.
  • Only one renewal per item is allowed.
  • If the renewal request is denied, the item must be returned promptly.
  • Online ILLiad renewals can be done up to the due date of the item. After that, the system will not allow you to renew online. However, if you contact the ILL Department, they can attempt a renewal for you.
  • Please email the Interlibrary Loan Department at lib_loan@plattsburgh.edu if you have questions or problems.
