2008 (Freshman): Second among freshmen and fourth on the team with 227 digs…appeared in 104 sets, which led all freshmen…had 20 kills and 20 service aces…made Aug. 29 collegiate debut versus Fredonia…reached double-digits in digs on seven occasions, included a season-high 15 versus Saint Lawrence (Sept. 5)...represented Plattsburgh on the All-Cardinal Classic Tournament Team, making 34 digs as the host Cardinals were the runner-up.
High School: Won eight letters in volleyball (2), soccer (4), track and field (1) and tennis at Beekmantown…volleyball coach was Shana Heilman…two-year honorable mention by the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference…team captain and defensive MVP…Section VII champions in 2007-08…regional runners-up…took first place at Boldgeville, Volley for a Cure and Snowflake tournaments…also captained soccer team, earning All-CVAC second-team honors…helped team to conference and regional championships in 2004 and ’05…played club soccer for Soccer United and Plattsburgh FC…received Regents Diploma with honors.
Personal: Born Chelsea Leigh Varin on May 4, 1990, in Plattsburgh, N.Y….daughter of James Varin and Colleen Koscinski…mother played college softball at Herkimer and Mohawk Valley community colleges…enjoys cooking, snowboarding, reading, crocheting and longboarding…hopes to work as an editor for a TV show, newscast or in the movies…majoring in television/video.
