Plattsburgh State Soccer
Four Men, Two Women Earn All-Region Honors
Jason Sousa (Brampton, ONT) and Mike Figliola (Mississauga, ONT) lead a group of six Plattsburgh State soccer players on the National Soccer Coaches Assiciation of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region team.
Both Figlioa and Sousa were first team selections.
Gena Rosenbaum (Morrisonville, NY) and Emily Hodgdon (Colchester, VT) were second team selections for the women's team and Craig Carroll (Cobleskill, NY) and Tim Stanley Derbyline, VT) were third team selections on the men's squad.
Figliola, a sophomore, led the Cardinals with school record-setting numbers in both goals scored (25) and total points (56). Sousa, also a sophomore, finished the season with two goals and a team-high nine assists as Plattsburgh State finished with a 15-5-0 record and a perfect 9-0-0 record in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) games.
Like Figliola, Rosenbaum, a sophomore, finished the season with school records in goals (21), assists (13) and points (55). Hodgdon, a sophomore, had six goals on the season with four coming on penalty kicks for the women’s team that finished the season at 14-7-0 overall and 7-3-0 in SUNYAC games.
Stanley, a sophomore, was second on the team with 11 goals and three assists for 25 points and Carroll, a junior, finished with two goals and four assists from his defensive position.

The Plattsburgh State Women's Soccer
team has almost "done it all" since becoming an intercollegiate varsity sport at Plattsburgh State in 1979. Since that time, the Cardinals have competed in 21 post-season tournaments, registered 20 winning seasons, and compiled a 251-147-0 record. The team competes in one of the top athletic conferences in the nation, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC
), and the conference champion gains automatic entry into the NCAA
Championship Tournament.
