The baseball team achieved unanticipated success in its first full season and first season of conference membership.
The Cardinals posted a 13-19 record overall (7-7 SUNYAC) and qualified for the conference tournament. The 13 victories were the most in team history.
The team finished its spring-break trip to Florida with a 5-5 record but embarked on a seven-game losing streak – including six straight conference games – to fall to 5-12.
However, the team rebounded to win eight straight from April 18-27. Included in that string were a 3-2 win over Division I Vermont. Also, the team won seven of its last eight conference games to claim the third seed in the SUNYAC Tournament.
Coach Kris Doorey was named conference Coach of the Year and freshman outfielder Dave Waldron earned First Team All-Conference honors and Second Team All-ECAC accolades.
Chip Cummings Field, the new on-campus facility, was dedicated May 10.
