Transfer Admissions at SUNY Plattsburgh

Did You Know?

One out of every two SUNY Plattsburgh graduates entered the college as a transfer student.
Transfer students come to SUNY Plattsburgh for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Our strong academic programs
  • The unique beauty and variety of the Adirondack/Champlain Valley region
  • Our year-round social and recreational activities

But there's more to it than that. Transfer students choose Plattsburgh because we make your transition as smooth and hassle-free as possible.

Before you even step foot on the Plattsburgh campus, we'll give you a thorough, detailed credit evaluation that not only shows you how your credits transferred, but also shows you all of the courses you still need to take in order to earn your bachelor's degree in your desired major.

Transfer students also have their own orientation sessions, during which they register for courses and learn about the college from a transfer student's perspective.

To make your registration easier, we will pre-register you into your major courses before you arrive at orientation; this step allows you to spend more time investigating the college and less time reading through the course list.

Once you're here, you'll see that our transfer students consistently remark that Plattsburgh's faculty, staff and students make them feel as if they've always been members of the SUNY Plattsburgh community.
