How Do They Get Started?
Freshman applicants should have a solid college-preparatory program in high school. We recommend an academic average of "B" or better and a combined SAT score of 1000 or better, or an ACT composite of 22 or better. Supplemental factors include class rank, an essay, letters of support, leadership and community service activities.
As a Transfer student, we recommend a minimum grade point average between 2.3 and 2.5.
Bring the Family Up for a Visit
Personal meetings and campus tours are available on weekdays throughout the year. We offer Group Information Sessions as well.

What Does the Campus Look Like?
Our campus is clean and beautiful. But don't take our word for it, take a look for yourself.
Life at SUNY Plattsburgh
Dorms. Classrooms. Coffee bar. Hanging out. Working out. Road trips. The mall. Pizza. Late night at the library. Screaming for the home team. Laughing. Playing. Exploring. Experiencing. This is student life at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Computers, Computers, Computers
With multiple wireless zones, students no longer need to head for the work station or their dorm rooms. If you need a desktop or a laptop, no problem, everything you need is here on campus.
Our College Store offers great deals on computers, laptops and all the necessary software to help you get up and running. Looking for computer support? Well, we have that covered too.
Our friendly campus computing support folks will be happy to help install, hookup and get you ready to surf the net.
Now, Let's Get to Work
We can guarantee you that your son or daughter's Plattsburgh experience will be lots of fun, but it will be hard work, too. Intense. Demanding. But don't worry - we have a wide choice of excellent academic programs.
Our faculty work closely with your son or daughter, in a broad range of courses, and our Career Development Center offers career guidance - everything students need to rise to the challenge and stand out. We encourage students to challenge themselves academically and, to help with that, our Claude J. Clark Learning Center offers free peer tutoring in a wide range of subjects.
The choice is theirs.
