Adjusting to U.S. Culture - Punctuality

Punctuality is important and people are expected to be on time for appointments, classes, and formal social events.

If you will be late, you should call the hosts and let them know that you will be delayed.

This preoccupation with time may also cause Americans to appear to be impatient and abrupt when they encounter delays.
