Apply for Admission (International Students)
OverviewE-mail is the primary method of communication between International Student Services and international applicants. Please provide a valid e-mail address on the completed application in order to receive timely reminders and updates. Sometimes, we need to call you regarding your application. Please provide us with a working phone number on your application. It is very important we have your number so we can assist you with your application in a timely and efficient manner. All the documents must be original or copies certified by the source institution (i.e., high school, examination council, etc.) or the EducationUSA advising center sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. A permanent address outside the United States is required of all applicants. There is an application fee of $40.00 USD that cannot be waived under any circumstances. This fee is mandated through the SUNY Central Administration, SUNY Plattsburgh cannot waive it for any reason. |

Step 3: Provide Evidence of English Language ProficiencyAll international applicants are required to submit proof of English Proficiency. The most common way of demonstrating proficiency is through standardized exams such as the TOEFL Internet-based (iBT), IELTS, SAT, or ACT. Students who have taken these exams can either order an official score report from College Board/ETS or the British Council, or enter their online profile username and password for verification on the English Proficiency page. Other acceptable ways of demostrating English proficiency are the following:
A TOEFL score of 540 (paper-based) or 207 (computer-based) or higher will enable you to be considered for admission directly into university-level academic programs. A TOEFL score between 450 and 539 paper-based (or between 133 and 203 computer-based) would enable you to enroll in our English Bridge Program. Step 4: Provide Financial Guarantee
International Transfer StudentsAny international applicant who has completed academic studies at another college or university may be considered for transfer admission to SUNY Plattsburgh. The minimum standards for admission as a transfer student are:
